His Excellency Vincent Piket, Ambassador of European Union to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam visited As Sakinah Foundation to deliver 200 donation packages of food supply to the children of As Sakinah and their family, who are socially and economically affected by the spread of COVID 19.
To commemorate Europe Day in May 9th, H.E Vincent Piket and his team made a solidarity visit to organizations in Indonesia, delivering support from the citizens of European Union, who although are tens of thousands kilometres away, are friends of Indonesian citizens.
The event was opened by a welcoming remark from the Foundation's founder, Mrs. Lisma. She explained what our mission and goals are, and how the donation will provide enormous help for the children's family. She also mentioned the challenges that the Foundation faced in conducting learning activities during this pandemic. Due to the limitation of internet and technology devices, As Sakinah Foundation has to adapt while striving to provide the children with access to education.
In his remarks H.E Piket expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome the Foundation has prepared. The ambassador was greeted by teachers and students of As Sakinah, waving the flags of EU and Indonesia, while still practicing social distancing carefully.
He actually highlighted the flags and the posters on the wall, made by the children. He loved them! The posters showed the importance of keeping ourselves healthy during the pandemic, while the flags showed the long-lasting friendship of EU and Indonesia.
Before departing, H.E Piket had a quick tour of the schools area, visiting the currently under-construction high school building. We hope to open the school next year, insya Allah.
Thank you His Excellency Vincet Piket and the team from the Delegation of European Union to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam. Your kindness and support are the drivers for us to keep going during this difficult time. Terima Kasih!
